Fun and Festivities!

I hope you have enjoyed the preparation and festivities that the Christmas season has to offer! Here are some pictures of our family enjoying cooking baking, cake making, raking leaves and some new traditions! Looking forward to enjoying the last few days together as a family now that daddy is on Christmas break.

One Sunday morning we stayed in pj's all morning and baked Christmas
cookies! Garrett loved cutting out all the shapes and adding sprinkles!

We continued a tradition with our friends, the Allens, with making a birthday
cake for Jesus. This year we were joined by new friends,the Schneiders and their little ones Elaina and Jaden.

Yes that is right we did not rake leaves until we were well into December
that is one of the joys of living in southern Indiana we are able to enjoy the warm weather and falling leaves for a long while!

We started 2 new traditions with the boys this year. I wrapped 24 Christmas books
for "them" (aka: Garrett) to open each day. The first was the Elf on the Shelf
book. Garrett named his elf, Buddy and has enjoyed looking for him every morning
not sure that it has had any effect on his behavior though!

It is so hard for us to believe that Asher is already 11 weeks old!! At his 2 month visit he weighed 10 lbs 14 oz (25%) that is 4 lbs in 6 weeks and 24 inches (90%). He has really become more interactive in the past few weeks, lots of smiles and cooing. He is definitely a morning baby like his brother was and continues to be! He already watches his brother like a hawk. Asher has had a harder time establishing a routine. He has awarded me a few nights of 7 hour stents but usually still wakes up once a night for a bottle date! I am asked frequently how Garrett is doing with Asher...he is great! He is interested and loving but not too smouldering. I am still trying to embrace the time off my boss has awarded me. I get stir crazy at times but after 15 and half weeks off work I will be ready to return to work in January with bells!! I will post Christmas festivities soon!!

Abundantly Thankful!!

We were so blessed to spend another Thanksgiving home, meaning no travel (if you exclude the 6 mile back and forth to Boonville). We enjoyed Thursday morning home watching the Macy's parade and putting up decorations followed by fellowship and great meals with both families! Friday evening was our yearly visit from Santa Claus at grandma Kline's! Garrett was unsure at first but then sat on my lap and said "Mom I am going to be brave!". I really tried to take a step back and praise our gracious God throughout the weekend! Our family has so much to be thankful for: a new healthy baby boy, great jobs that we love, a beautiful home, and wonderful friends and family! Thank you Jesus...now onto celebrating your birth!!!!!

We had a wonderful time trick or treating with the Allen family. Garrett chose to be a firefighter this year. Chief Garrett led the crew in candy retrieval the entire evening. I think we may have a future track star, like his dad!

Believe it or not Asher is 6 weeks old. Here are a few pictures to share from his first month. Asher is a very sweet baby. We still have many "dates" throughout the night but he is starting to sleep 4-5 hour stents for me every now and then! His best times are first thing in the evening and right before bed. During those times, he does a lot of smiling and cooing. There is still much debate on who he looks like, several people think he looks like me!! Yeah! Garrett is an awesome big brother. He enjoys taking a bath with Asher every evening and helping with diaper changes. I am excited that I will be off work until Jan 3 and have the opportunity to be with my family throughout the holiday season...stay tuned!

Fall Frenzy

Like many of you, fall is a Kline family favorite!! Despite ushering in a season of change with a new addition to our family, we were still able to enjoy many festivities that this time of year has to offer!

It was near impossible to hold Garrett of from carving his pumpkin weeks ago! He was so excited to get his hands dirty but when it was actually time he was a little hesitant to dive in!

My favorite trip every year is to the pumpkin patch. We enjoyed a beautiful day at Mayes Farm and all of the activities they had to offer! Asher even came along for the ride!

On September 29, 2011 we welcomed Asher Luke Kline into our family! He came 2 weeks earlier than planned. I was placed on 2 weeks of bed rest for concerns of small weight and placental problems. We were so blessed with an awesome, attentive doctor and a smooth induction. After a long night stay in the hospital and one push...he was here! At first glance, we all felt a sense of deja vu...he looked just like Garrett. Now that we have spent more time with him he definitely has different features from Garrett. We had several visitors throughout our stay but no visitor was more anticipated than "Big Brother" Garrett. Truthfully his reaction was nothing to write about. He was more interested in the gifts addressed to him than his newest friend. He has since warmed up to his little brother in the comfort of his own home and the reality that Asher is not going anywhere. To say that going from one to two has been an adjustment is an understatement, overwhelming more like it! I promise I will be more prompt on further updates as I rub my eyes and grab a cup of coffee!

Summer Splash

This summer Southern Indiana experienced some odd weather and Garrett was more than happy to embrace a late summer rainy season. Garrett took to the puddles like a frog to a pond, especially with his froggy boots on. We could not drag him in for anything. We are reaching full-blown boyhood. It is fun to watch him grow and find enjoyment in the same simple things that we did. It almost makes me want to go out and splash in the nearest puddle - almost.

Soccer Camp

This July Garrett got to participate in his first soccer camp hosted by our friend and Boonville's soccer coach Brian Kilgour. Little did Brian and the BHS girl's soccer team know what was in store for them when they opened up camp to three year olds. We were eager to let them have at it. Garrett was tearing it up, except for the times that he and Cooper, Brian's son, spent tackling and wrestling all over the field - it only took them two days to realize that it was a bad idea to have Cooper and Garrett, plus Dylan Kain, in a group together. Needless to say, Garrett had a blast playing soccer with his friends and being like his cousin, Anna Grace. Perhaps there is a future in soccer for him after all - as long as we can get across to him to not use his hands and that it is a bad idea to just randomly fall on the ground (maybe a goalie). Either way, the good news is that you can take the boy out of Indy, but you can't take the Peyton out of the boy.

One of our favorite things to do over the summer is to visit Rivertown Ice Cream Shop. This is one of Garrett's must haves during the summer season. On this particular visit, we got to join Meme and Pape who were watching Garrett's cousin Landon. Needless to say that the two had a blast.

Summer fun!

It is hard to believe that summer is over! Brandon's first day of school was today so its onto to another year and back to the routine! Our summer was not full of the trips and visits we had planned but it was blessed all the same. In June, Brandon's dad came to live with us after a bout of illness. Although stressful at times, we have hopefully made memories that will last a lifetime. We spent most of the summer completing home projects and swimming in the neighborhood pool. This weather has been tough to tolerate pregnant and I have had to take it easy more than I would prefer. Another shock to starting the school year is that we are 10 weeks away from the arrival of our newest addition! I will try to catch you up on some of Garrett's summer excitement in the next few blogs...sorry about the hiatus!

First up is our trip to Kentucky for "Day out with Thomas". In June we drove to the Kentucky Railway Museum for this event. We were joined by aunt Keri, Landon, Meme and our good friends, the Allens and their Nana! It was a VERY HOT day but the boys had a great time!

Garrett had his end of the year program last week for his preschool, Castle Country Academics. As you can see from the following video, Garrett is quite the "spirited" child! Ms. Kim and Ms. Jessica are two amazingly loving and patient women to work with these toddlers daily. Unfortunately, Garrett switched schools this week and will no longer be attend CCA. CCA is a preschool/kindergarten and with a new baby coming we had to look for childcare that would take babies also. We are very excited that a spot opened up at a local Christian church(Garrett has been on the waiting list for 11 months) which will take baby #2 as well. Garrett is doing very well at his new school and is already the life of the party. We were always under the understanding the youngest was the most out-going, most likely to be the class clown...wonder what that means for Garrett's baby brother!

My three year old little man!

Garrett is 3!!! It has been a while since I have posted anything about my little man! Partially because we have been so busy and partially because the kid does not sit still for a picture these days. I have seen several folks conduct interviews with their little one to capture them at this sweet age so I thought I would try. He did pretty well I thought! I am doing my best to embrace "three". It is as tough as many say it is, plus with feeling terrible in my pregnancy it has been extra challenging. As you can see Garrett has changed a lot! He was diagnosed with amblyopia in the right eye in March and now has to wear glasses. At first I was devastated, but then reality set in on how healthy this kid really is and so what if he has to wear glasses. Amblyopia is weak or "lazy" eye where his brain did not respond enough to stimulation as a baby and therefore his right eye did not strengthen properly. We are hopeful he will only have glasses in adolescence and that the eye will improve on its own. He has done really well with keeping his glasses on and does not put up much of a fight. We have to start patching his good eye for several hours this summer so that could be the true test! Garrett went to the doctor last week and weighs 35.5 pounds and is 39 inches tall. At this rate, the doctor said he could be 6'2", which his 5'10.5" father is thrilled about!! Maybe basketball is in his future! Garrett continues to be a loving, sweet boy with lots of energy! He has struggled in school with talking and listening skills which he comes by honestly; his mom and dad love to talk! He would live outside if we let him and has rarely used the bonus room that I just had to have in our new home. His favorite people are his cousins and grandparents. He would live at my sister's and grandparent's if I would let him. His growing relationship with them warms my heart and gives me peace that our move was the right one all along!

Exciting News!

I know it has been a long hiatus from blogging for the Kline family but I felt this annoucement was worth breaking our silence!! We are expecting! That's right....Garrett is going to be a big brother in October 2011!

We are thrilled at the thought of completing our family with a new baby! This past year has brought many challenges for the Kline family but from those changes have come blessings! This child has already brought so much to our lives and we are excited for more. I am currently 12 weeks, through my first trimester, and it has been a tough one! I have been very tired and nauseous and have had just about every pregnancy symptom known to man, many of which I will not discuss on this blog! I was this sick with Garrett and it ended at 13 weeks so I am hopeful the end is near. Garrett is excited! I venture to say he understands, except the other night he asked me "when are we going to go pick up our baby", so maybe not. When I asked if he wanted a brother or sister, he said "a puppy". Please pray for a continued healthy pregnancy , more energy for me and for Southern Indiana to have the mildest summer to date! (I am nervous about being pregnant in the summer...I hate being hot!) We love you all!

I am still in shock that Thanksgiving has come and gone(and Christmas is 20 days away)!! We enjoyed so much time with family and friends. The best part was that we did not have to get in the car and drive 4 hours to see family for the holidays! We have so much to be thankful as we look back on this very eventful year. May you take the time this month and reflect on the greatest gift we have been given, our saviour Jesus Christ!

Halloween 2010

Our Halloween weekend was full of sweets, family and friends! We celebrated my dad's 60 th Birthday on Saturday (he is actually a Halloween baby). Our goal was a big trip to a lake house in Kentucky but unfortunately we were unable to narrow down a weekend so instead it was an intimate night with family around the campfire. We enjoyed chili, hotdogs over the fire, spiced cider and blueberry pie... now thats a Birthday party! HAPPY BIRTHDAY PAPE!

Halloween day was a blast! We joined our new friends, the Allen's and their extended family for a pizza party and trick-or-treating. This was the first time Garrett has really gotten into the whole experience. Garrett took on the challenge with gusto. He was tickled by the fun of running up to every house and getting candy! I borrowed a Buzz Lightyear costume from a friend; however Garrett had other ideas. He refused to put the costume on and wanted to be a train engineer instead. As a mom, I have to choose my battles and the point was to have fun! I thought it turned out pretty cute anyway!

Oh my October!

Well, an update from the Kline crew is waaaaay over due! Besides being our favorite month of the year, October has brought many new changes for the Kline's. Garrett started the month off by turning 2 and a half which meant he was able start his new preschool here in Newburgh. He is adjusting well and really likes his teacher, Mrs. Brown and especially digs her assistant, Miss Kim. He is struggling with taking naps on his cot and at times he gets a little too excited and has trouble keeping his hands to himself but for the most part it has been a very positive transition. Also at the beginning of the month our prayers were answered with the sale of our home in Fishers. We officially moved out mid-month. Our feelings were mixed with the move. Up until that point we have kept a very positive attitude about this transition in our life, but seeing our home empty and leaving the town we fell in love with was VERY hard. God is still working on our hearts to bring us peace with leaving our wonderful friends, neighbors, church and the first home we made together as a family. And it is with joy in our hearts that we announce we have purchased a home here in Newburgh(the same day we closed in Fishers!!). The process was quick and kind of unexpected but we found a home in a neighborhood that we love that was priced to move so we jumped on it! We are very excited about this home and the hope that this will give us more peace with our move. We have also started a "small group" with three other couples and are enjoying the fellowship and new friendship!! Ironically all four couples have all relocated recently back to our hometown of Newburgh from big cities, such as Indy, Nashville and Cincinatti. We are thinking of all ourselves the Boomerangs!! Brandon also started the month off by participating in the Evansville Mini-marathon. He did very well with a time of 1:37, a personal best. The best part was that his sister's came down from Chicago to cheer him on!!

Trip to the "Lou"

For Labor Day, we decided to make a trip to see my grandmother in Missouri. We have not seen her in five years and she has never met Garrett, so it was due time. To break up the trip, we decided to stop at the St Louis Zoo on the way down. I have heard such great things about their zoo and its free!! It was a gorgeous, mild day and we had a great time! I am excited to make future trips to the "Lou" now that we live closer.

On Labor Day, we were able to enjoy the local parade. The parade route goes right in front of Grandma Kline's house. Garrett was still very upset by the firetrucks. He ran inside Grandmas house and watched from the window until they passed. Eventually, he got the hang of it and love getting all of the candy. He got more candy than Halloween last year!

Frog Follies

Anyone that has been around Garrett lately knows that this boy is obsessed with cars!!! He takes them to bed, bath and to the dinner table! He is not alone in his passion. My dad and Brandon are big into cars and restoration, so it was only fitting that they take a trip to the annual Frog Follies hot rod festival a few weeks ago. Garrett was in heaven!

It is very hard to believe that we have already lived in Newburgh for over a month! I apologize for the delay of update but we have trying our best to embrace this move and our new home. Like with any change, there has been some sadness and hesitation met with excitement and hope. We are currently living with my parents while we are trying to sell our home in Indy. God has been teaching us patience since the beginning of this journey and we continue to remind ourselves that God's timing is perfect and our home will sell. So we are hopeful for the time when we are able to find our own home and get settled here. Meanwhile, we are so grateful to have a home at my parents' who are two of easiest, awesome people to live with!!

We have been keeping ourselves busy here in the south!! Garrett has been a fish this summer. Swimming has been the best way to keep him entertained and beat the heat around here. We have made two trips to Burdette Park, a local water park and he went to Holiday World/Splashing Safari with Grandma Kline last week. He has already been to the Children's Museum of Evansville, which is much smaller than Indy but lots of fun! Garrett went to his first week of vacation bible school at a local church who actually took 2 year olds...they were saints! Garrett's favorite part has been all the time with family. He literally lights up when you mention "we are going to Grandmas" or "lets go see your cousins"! He is tickled by the fact that Meme can rock him every morning and make him pancakes. Garrett will need to go through detox when he leaves here! August 16th he will start Mothers Morning Out at a local church until a spot opens at the daycare we have chosen.

As for Brandon and I were are doing great! I have been at my job for one month already and I really like it. It feels good to be in a group with southern hospitality that treats their employs so well, I love it there! Dr Goris, my boss, is a quiet guy but super laid back and respectful, which as most know I have never had! Brandon is anxious to get the school year started. Today was his last day of summer and we are preparing his room this weekend. He has met several teachers whom have all been very welcoming.

Every year the Graham family rents a house in Harbour Country, Michigan so we can relax and spend time together. I know it has been a long time since I have done a Kline family update. In that time, we have had some major changes and challenges arise for our family. On May 13th, I was forced to resign at work. This came with no warning or explanation. I was just asked to pack my bags and not return. I am the bread winner of our family so this came with much anxiety and fear for our future. Brandon and I always thought we were in fields that made us exempt from this happening to us, but apparently this was not the case. We were not prepared for this emotionally, spiritually or financially. But God knew this! We went through this "storm" as you would a death. We were first mad at how my bossed handled the situation, then depressed/suppressed by fear of the unknown, then I blamed myself and told myself I was not capable of being a PA anymore and then hope and acceptance. Trust me it took me awhile to get to acceptance! Of course I immediately started sending out my resume to any job I could find and a week went by without a bite, then 2 weeks, then 3 weeks...well you get the picture. BUT meanwhile with help from family, friends and pastoral staff at our church, I learned that God was not doing this to me but was allowing it to happen because I needed to make some changes in my/our life. I learned for the first time in my life to truly TRUST God and his plan for me. I learned that nothing else matters in life but my family, friends and where I am spiritually. My house, my cars, my clothes, or our future vacations don't matter! My life was simplified very quickly: put food on the table, keep a shelter over our head, enjoy Garrett's laughter, love one another and PRAY!! I knew and was reminded by everyone that God had a big plan for us...but what was it?! During those weeks of searching for a new opportunity, I found an Orthopaedic job in Evansville (our hometown). Brandon and I immediately dismissed this idea, but as time went by we thought, "is this it?" We found out there were several teaching positions there as well, so we thought we would pursue this to see where God would take us. I later found out the job opportunity down there was not going to work out (bad timing), but was encouraged to call another Ortho group there instead. I met with them after Memorial Day and they were very interested. They were not actively searching for a PA, but anytime they can get an experienced PA in Evanville they'll strongly consider it. I had to wait two long weeks to meet with the actual surgeon and on Friday I accepted the position. Meanwhile, Brandon basically fell right into a teaching position at Castle High School (my Alma mater) teaching Freshman English. The principal could not even wait 6 hours before calling him to offer him the job! So we are moving!! Of course, we meet this new journey with sadness and excitement. Our hearts ache at the thought of leaving Fishers, our home, neighbors, friends and church while looking forward to moving closer to family (both Grandmas, aunt and uncle within 10 miles) and new opportunities. I am thrilled at the thought of getting back into the OR after 1.5 year hiatus and Brandon always wanted to teach high school! So our house is for sale and I am starting my new job on July 6th! We will keep you updated on the move and our status throughout. Friends, our God is good and he loves us so much. He desires us to follow Him and trust Him with an unfailing faith and he will provide for us even if it is not according to our plan, its HIS PLAN!

Last weekend we were able to go visit our friends, the Kasprzyk's in Springfield Il. Unfortunately, we only get to see Nick and Jami about twice a year, and the birth of their second child, Alexander prompted this visit! It was fun to see Garrett and their daughter Addison (2 1/2 yrs) play together. Before it seemed like they were so far a part in age but now that Garrett has turned two they had a lot of fun! Besides free McDonalds all weekend (Nick owns/operates a McDonalds) which is always a plus, we also enjoyed the day a The Children's Discovery Museum. Great weekend, great kids, and great friends!!

This past weekend was a true celebration of life! A celebration for a life of grace through the sacrifice of God's Son, Jesus Christ! Also, the celebration of Garrett's birthday! We had such a wonderful weekend full of family and fun.

This past weekend, we enjoyed a visit from my sister, Keri and her children for their Spring break. When they visit Indianapolis their favorite place is to go to The Children's Museum! My nieces have been looking forward to the Barbie exhibit for months and Garrett had been saying "dinosaur, T-rex" for days! We had a great time, but as usual it was exhausting for the parents. My sister and I even brought in a reinforcement by asking Brandon to take the day off. The kids were so good and we had such a great visit!

Since Garrett's birthday is Easter weekend, we enjoyed a party at home with neighbors and friends on Saturday. Garrett received a Thomas the Train for birthday with table and the whole works! We set it up so he could have it Saturday morning. It was like Christmas morning, so fun!! He played with that table ALL DAY! Later we enjoyed cake and ice cream! Happy Birthday, bud!

Look who's going to be TWO!!

Well, in one week Garrett will be two years old! I know it is very cliche for mom's to say, but "where has time gone?". Like most parents, Brandon and I feel that it was just yesterday we were bringing him home. We were filled with stress and bliss!! And also like my most parents, we feel that we have a truly awesome kid in our midst! He is definitely the light of our lives and makes life so interesting on a daily basis.

Garrett is known as a more reserved child at daycare, simply happy to just sit back at watch things happen but at home and with family he is full of laughter, song and funny phrases. Some of our favorites currently are how he has picked up a few praise songs when listening to KLOVE. He suddenly broke out into song at the store the other day, ministering to the other shoppers as he sang, "I know my God saved the day and I know his word never fails and know my God saved the day for me...ITS GONNA BE ALRIGHT!" Garrett is always saying cute things like "Alright" and "Awe Dude" but the one that melted my heart the most was the other day in the car was the first time he said "I love you, mommy!" WOW! The funniest thing lately is to hear him refer to himself in the third person.

Besides singing and talking a lot, he loves to play with cars, trains, and now likes to color on a easel I got for him at Ikea. Its so fun to see their interpretation of objects when they are coloring! Garrett is still a book freak! Personally I love that he loves to read so much because it has always been a struggle for me. I sometimes find him with piles of books around him just reading to himself and he loves trips to the library to get new books. And music is still his passion, I don't know if daddy is more excited to teach him how to play the guitar or swing a golf club.

Garrett is sensitive but tough. He is impatient and has a temper. He is a thinker and free spirit. If I thought these past two years were fun, I think there is so much more to experience in the future with this awesome kid! Toddler hood has been challenging but a blast; I am looking forward to some new things like a big boy bed and potty training. Should be interesting, stay tooned. Now begins the birthday celebration week, fun times ahead!

Fun, Fleeting February

I know it has been a month since a Kline family update! February was a great,busy month. We did some traveling and a lot of catching up with family and friends. First off, Valentines weekend we went home to Evansville to celebrate my nephew, Landon's first birthday! His expressions with his cake were priceless, he was very proud of himself. What blessing God has bestowed on my sister and her family with the addition of this little guy!!

The following weekend we enjoyed time with my three best girlfriends and their families. Between the four of us we have seven children, we all spent the night at the Sabelhaus home. We had such a great time. I personally really enjoyed spending time with all of our children. We don't see each other's kids that often. It was so fun to see all of their personalities and how they reacted to each other. Thanks to Tara for the great cooking and hospitality; this definitely needs to be an annual tradition!

Then this past weekend we went to Chicago to celebrate Brandon's oldest sister, Dawn's baby shower! She is due in April with the third boy on the Kline side. We enjoyed a wonderful brunch at Mon Ami Gabi in Lincoln Park and all the wonderful gifts! Congrats Dawn and Harry, we cant wait to meet him!

The end of the month, brought our family great sadness. Yesterday we made the diffcult decision of putting our dog Brinkley to sleep. It is a long story of why this had to happen, but we would like to thank all our family and friends for all their wonderful support and prayers. Brandon and I are having a hard time with this decision but we have peace that we will heal. Brinkley was a big part of our family. We will miss you, Brinkley!

I have been wanting to do a Garrett update for awhile, especially now that we have gotten a new camera! I mainly wanted to do this update to chronicle Garrett at this stage, this "new" phase...TODDLER! This is a time that most moms would agree can make you laugh, cry and mad all in a span of a few minutes. Moments such as serenading us at dinner with the praise song he heard in the car, peeing in the potty for the first time, the bliss of him playing by himself for 20 whole minutes or still wanting to cuddle are met with the un-nerving frustration of his numerous fits: fits over getting his nails cut, fits over getting his hair cut, fits of not wanting mommy to help bush his teeth or hair for that matter, fits because that is not the fruit he meant when he said "fruit please", or fits over not getting to eat hummus and pretzels every night for dinner! But truthfully it has been a lot of fun! It is hard to believe Garrett is 22 months old already!

Garrett's Favorites
Favorite things to do outside: well, not a lot of time has been spent outside due to winter, although he did play out in the snow this morning
Favorite things to do inside:our newest LOVE is cars (he inherited 30 Match box cars...its verging on the edge of obsession) and everything that goes with them like tracks and garages, ball pit, school buses, reading books, he has officially mastered two puzzles (time to get more!)
Favorite foods: hummus, pretzels, pizza, turkey dogs, raisins, applesauce, apples, grapes
Favorite treats: gold fish and teddy grams
Favorite drink: water and sips of mommy's sweet tea
Favorite songs: ABC's and the theme songs to "Mickey Mouse Clubhouse" and "Chuggington"

Garrett's Dislikes
Anything hygenic...seriously...no hair brushing, teeth brushing, nail or hair cutting.
Garrett still does not like to eat after 5pm. He gets very frustrated when things do not work properly or on his time clock.

It has been quite a while since I have posted video of Garrett. The main reason for this delay is my toddler's relentless need to stop and look at the camera every time it's pulled to capture a "timeless moment". Finally, we've figured a way to curb his curiosity, by using our iPod, which is taking him longer to catch on. Here are two videos from Christmas of Garrett dancing to the "Hot Dog" song from Mickey Mouse, his favorite show. He can recite Mickey's intro every time and he loves to dance to the finale song "Hot Dog". Now you can see proof of his terrible haircut that I have told so many people about. An event that Brandon and I are still scarred from. Enjoy!

Christmas Memories 2009

Its hard to believe Christmas is already a memory but here we are starting a year new already! WOW! I wanted to share our pictures from Christmas 2009. We had a wonderful, very relaxing vacation. We took three days and just spent time as a family at home watching Christmas movies and making cookies. On Tuesday we headed down to Evansville to spend time with family and friends. We were able to see several friends from high school during the holiday as well! The time spent with family was a treat. Most of all we felt that we had time to breathe in the joy of a child and celebrate the gift of Jesus Christ!

My best friend from junior high, Jenna Tieman and her children Isaac (3) and Isabelle (8 mos). We had a brunch, play date and had time to catch up. We have not seen eachother in over 5 years!

On the 23rd, we went to the Fantasy of Lights in Eville. Garrett and his cousins had so much fun driving around looking at lights and singing carols!

Christmas Time is Here!

Merry Chrsitmas! The Kline family has been enjoying many holiday festivities this month. It started off with a visit from my sister and her family of six! We had such a great time watching movies and eating great food. We made a trip to Hollydays at the Children's Museum. Garrett enjoyed the snow slide, Frosty the Snowman presentation, and playing in the water tunnels. We were also able to go to Disney on Ice with Miss Jaime and his friends at Kids Korner. I was able to take the day off and join in the fun. Garrett was awe the entire show and would wave "hi" to each character. I am not sure who enjoyed it more Garrett or myself! Friday was Garrett's Christmas party at Kids Korner. Garrett has not been a big fan of Santa this year unfortunately. In all actuality he does not really understand this whole Christmas-thing yet. However the time as a family has been wonderful. This week Brandon and I are both off from work and we spent the weekend home watching the snow fall, watching Christmas movies and baking cookies. We are now in Newburgh for the holidays and looking foward to more time with friends and family. May this find you and your family full of God's joy and peace. Happy Birthday to Jesus!

What we're thankful for...

We had a wonderful yet busy Thanksgiving holiday in Evansville. We were able to see both sides of our family, friends and 150 members of my high school class at my 10 year class reunion. If I had to sum it up in one word though it would be "babies". We were blessed to hear of several upcoming births this spring! We are now able to announce that Brandon's oldest sister Dawn and her husband Harry are expecting their first child in April. We are excited about our new nephew and our growing family. Also our great friends, Jen and Kris that live in Ohio will be having their first in May as well as a good high school friend of mine, Stacey will be having her first in July!! We are joyfully welcoming in the Christmas season and spirit in the Kline household. The tree is up, great music is playing, and presents are being wrapped. But most of all we are so blessed with health, happiness and great family/friends! Below are pictures that our great and talented friend, Amanda took a month ago at my Alma mater, Butler University! Power of Prayer

I do realize that most you who visit this blog are wanting to see pictures/updates of Garrett and our family; but today I wanted share something that has been in my mind this week. Just because I am married to an English major does not mean I am a good writer, quite the opposite actually. The longest thing I usually write all week is a three lined prescription at work so bare with me.

As some of you may know I follow a blog by a woman named "MckMama" at www.mckmama.com (many of you follow her yourself). As I have lifted up on this blog before, her son, Stellan, was diagnosed with a heart arrhythmia in womb and has fought a battle against this disorder with many medications and one failed surgery accompanied by several hospitalizations throughout the year. Well unfortunately the week of Stellan's first birthday (the week of Halloween) he failed his medications and went back into this deadly arrhythmia. Along with doctors, Stellan's parents decided to make the trip to Boston's Children's Hospital last weekend. To make a long story short, Stellan almost died on Monday and had to be revived. He was whisked away to an emergency surgery to ablate the accessory pathway that causes his disorder. Ladies and gentleman it was a true miracle but Stellans surgery was a HUGE SUCCESS and he is now free from the disorder he has been plagued with his short life.

The truly "magical" thing about Stellan's story is that people from all over the world prayed for that little boy. You can see a map at the above website. And I was included! I can honestly say that I prayed for that little boy nearly hourly for three days. At times I was literally on my knees praying for his mother, family, doctors and a miracle! When I read the good news of Stellan's "home run" surgery , as his mom put it, on Monday night I was jumping up and down like a babe on Christmas morning! I think I said "Hallelujah and Praise God"! So throughout this week I have wondered why don't I pray that way daily for my family and others. Sure there are things that I am anxious about or true blessings I see daily, but why am I not on my knees for those things? Why am I not praising God by jumping up and down for my daily blessings? Proverbs 3:5-6 says, "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and lean not on your own understanding;in all your ways acknowledge him, and he will make your paths straight." I don't know about you but I need to "acknowledge Him" more in my life on a daily, hourly basis. I saw this week the greatness of God in Stellan's story because God gave me so much joy in witnessing what happens when communicate with Him! I will be making more of an effort to pray and praise God more often in my life, wont you?!!

Halloween 2009

We had wonderful Halloween weekend filled with fun and friends! We had our first annual Kline Halloween party on Friday night. We had to have the party indoors due to the rain but we still had a great time. We invited several neighbors and friends and enjoyed good food, lots of sweets and creative costumes! I will have to post pictures later because I am going to have to get them from someone else. When you are the host you don't have much time to pick up a camera. Our great friends, the Angermiers, from Louisville came to stay for the weekend with their daughter Addison. Addie is 20 months old (5 weeks older than Garrett) so she and Garrett played and laughed hard all weekend. Saturday morning we went to Traders Point Christian Church to their indoor playground and let the kids work out some energy and give the parents time to visit. It is very surreal when Laura, Tara, Ashley and I get together with our SEVEN children. It is still hard to believe that we are married raising these beautiful kids!

Then it was time to go home and rest..ok so Garrett was the only one who took a nap. Addie and the tripplets were too excited for Halloween. The daddies got in 9-holes at the golf range and then it was time for festive-shaped pizza. We then got them dressed and met up with the Callahan tripplets for some trick-or-treating! The kids did really well. Garrett and Addison really got the hang of marching up to the door and getting candy from the neighbors. Garrett was so polite saying or signing thank you several times in return. The tripletts enjoyed a cho-cho ride while candy-givers "ohhed and awed" and handed them candy Ashley will never let them eat!! Since it ended up being a very cool night, our crew of 5 one-year olds made it 1.5 cul-de-sacs before having to turn in for the night. What a great night!! (the moms even got to meet up a Kona Grill for drinks after the festivities!!)

Fall in Brown County

Brandon and I were blessed to be able to spend an extended weekend in Brown County this past weekend. Seeing that fall is my favorite time of year, I wanted to experience a true fall getaway in Nashville Indiana. We started our weekend Friday morning at Oliver Winery, who says you can't drink wine before noon! We then drove to the artisan district of Nashville and had lunch at the Artist Colony Inn. We walked around the town and visited many stores until it started raining. Then it was off to our first bed and breakfast experience at the Manor at Tabor Hill. Dirk and Teresa James were wonderful hosts and as you can see have a beautiful home! We woke up to coffee and delicious breakfast each morning. Saturday morning was smothered french toast and chicken sausage with a tropical smoothie then it was off to Brown County State Park for a hike and enjoy the semi-ready fall foliage. We had a good, LONG hike...story to tell ya later! Brandon will need a big beer to get through that story! We then had dinner at the famous Story Inn Saturday night. We did make it home today after enjoying a breakfast of eggs benedict and chocolate covered watermellon...and thanks to Meme for watching the little guy so we could have some time together as a couple!

We had our second annual Kline Family Trip to Stoneycreek Farms to pick a pumpkin. We were very eager to spend a day outdoors after a week's worth of rain and what better way than a pumpkin festival. Garrett was much more aware this year than at six months of age. He enjoyed the haystacks, the balloon lady, the pumpkin tree and watching all of the other kids. The best of all was the hayride out to the pumpkin patch. Garrett could have really cared less about picking a pumpkin because he was so mesmerized by the tractor. I apologize there are not of pictures of Garrett looking at the camera because he was too busy starring at the tractor. Next year I think our money would be best spent on the extended hayride instead! Happy Fall to all!

Garrett turned 1 and a half on Saturday!!! A friend's blog that we follow always lists her daughter's stats and like/dislikes at each milestone, so I thought I would follow suit...thanks Brooke. Our family is healthy and happy...thank you Jesus! Hope this update finds you the same! Here is a recent video of Garrett doing his body parts..mommy the PA is very proud!

Last Monday Grandpa Kline paid us a visit on his way through to Chicago. We only get to see him three times a year so we thought we would do something fun to spend time with him. We went to Tuttle Orchard and picked apples. It had rained all morning so we got a little wet and dirty but that was half the fun! Garrett had a lot of fun finding the apples and then having daddy help him get to them. He just kept saying "apple, apple", which was one of his first words because he loves apples!! We had a great time and the apple crisp we made at home was delicious!

Last weekend, Brandon and I were invited to a Purdue game by our new neighbors, the Gutwein's. It was the first time Brandon had been on campus in 8 years! I really enjoyed walking around and getting the official tour of campus...A LOT bigger than Butler that is for sure. The school spirit there is amazing and the campus was full of energy. Unfortunately we loss the game to N. Illinois but a great time was had by all. I can definitely see myself wearing a Purdue Mom sweatshirt!

I cannot believe we have been married five years already! I feel that many days go by in the hurry of life and I do not get to express my appreciation for you. I want to thank you for being such a good friend and partner. There is no one else I would rather go through marriage, parenthood and life with. Thank you for working so hard to be good dad and husband. Most of all, I want to thank you for being a Godly example to Garrett. He is constantly watching you and you are so careful in your actions and words everyday. Thank you for being a Godly leader in our marriage as well, for encouraging church on a weekly basis to filing our home with great Christian music. I know that having two working parents in our home is tough but you are so great at making this a “team” effort everyday. Thanks for making me laugh and being silly with Garrett, it has taught me not to take life so seriously. Kline Family Trip to Kentucky Lake

For Labor Day weekend we made the trip to Kentucky Lake for the Kline family reunion. This family tradition started last year but we were unable to attend so we were excited to attend this year! We rented a cabin for the whole family at a resort on the water. We had so many fun things to do: boating, tubing, fishing, volleyball,swimming, playing in the sand, and eating and eating and eating some more!! Each family paired up and took turns making dinner which made it fun to try some new recipes. Also this year was the first annual cocktail contest. Each couple had to come up with an original drink and then were scored by the other participants. Preston and Shannon won this year and will have their names/drink put on the family trophy! It has been way too long since we updated the blog, so I thought it was time to get on here and tell you about Garrett (since that is why you read this anyway!). I usually write about happenings or events in our family, but today I thought I would catch you up on my great kid! Garrett is now 17 months old! I know we say this all the time, but I love this stage. He is so much fun to be around. One minute we are laughing the next we are pulling our hair out! Life with a toddler is full adventure and pure joy. He had a great summer hanging out with his daddy doing household projects, doing the grocery shopping and playing outside. They really formed quite a bond and I am so grateful that Brandon's job allows him to spend this quality time with Garrett. The past couple weeks have meant some adjustments for our family. Brandon went back to school so Garrett is going back to Kids Korner and Miss Jaime every Tuesday thru Friday. We have been working on weaning him from his constant pacifier use to only using it at naps and night time. Which has been more like weaning mommy and daddy from their sanity! Speaking of naps, he is now working with Miss Jaime on going down to only an afternoon nap. She would like to include him in "Centers" or the preschool curriculum by 18 months. They usually do this from 9-10:30am daily. Another new phase he has started is the "mine" phase. Except he yells it at the top of his lungs and gets on his tippy toes. Its really quite a performance. Mommy and daddy are really struggling with this new found Independence and bossy behavior. We are trying to stress saying "please" for a toy instead of taking it and giving others a turn. I see glimpses of progress at times. All have assured me this is a phase and does get better! He has also been in a stranger danger phase especially at church. We had many problems leaving him in the nursery while daddy and I enjoyed the service. Consistency has been key because now that we have been able to go to church one month straight he goes to the volunteer without crying and actually enjoys himself even if he has had to steal a security blanket from another kid to get through the hour!
With the fall season comes buying some warmer clothing. Garrett is still pretty short and we have really been struggling to find pants that fit his toddler belly but that he is not tripping over. Also his Meme came up to visit and took him on his first trip to Stride Rite for his first "real" pair of shoes!
Garrett talks constantly. I am not sure where he is getting this from because his parents are quite shy! We are really enjoying how much he is communicating, its really fun. He is now running everywhere..we do not walk. For instance today, we went on a walk and he insisted on getting out of his stroller and running the last 3/4 mile. He gets this from his daddy's side. I better watch because Brandon will be fitting him for running spikes before I know it!
I am still able to be home with Garrett on Mondays. This fall we will be starting a MOPS group at a local church. I am looking forward to getting to know some other women in the community and Garrett will participate in the Moppets group too! Of course our days will still be spent playing and having some mommy time. I love it! We have also made Monday's our library day. It has been fun to go pick a bag full of books to enjoy.
I hope you enjoy this fall season. We are looking forward to football and cooler weather. I am already planing "Boo at the Zoo" and the trip to Stoney Creek Farms to pick a pumpkin. First off is Labor Day weekend at Kentucky Lake with the Kline clan. I am sure there will be pictures to share!

Well we have lived in our house for two years now and we have always heard of this great Luau put on every year by our neighbors behind us. David Remick is from Oahu, HI and he has a wonderful "secret" chicken recipe from a restaurant in his hometown that he enjoys making for everyone. And the Elfreichs, also behind us, love to host parties. So after a few year hiatus because of the Remick's adopting two children from Russia, the luau happened this past weekend. We had such a good time! Lots of good food, fun and children. The adults were out numbered by all of the kids! We put Garrett to bed at 7pm so we could enjoy some corn hole and the outdoor fire pit (dont worry the baby monitor reaches in our neighbors backyard). Mahalo neighbors!

Trip to Evansville

July 21st was my birthday and thanks to my wonderful husband it was a great day! My boys made me BBQ chicken, pasta salad and strawberry cake with cream cheese frosting. It was a beautiful day and we were able to enjoy it outside. Boy, has life changed I am so excited to sit at home and eat a good dinner with my boys! The weekend before last we made the track to Evansville to visit family. This trip was long overdue but as some of you know with a toddler, traveling is just not FUN! We did buy a portable DVD player as my birthday present to help with the four hour drive home which really helped. I took Friday off so we were able to spend the day by the pool relaxing and the went to a great birthday dinner with my family. Saturday Brandon and I were invited by my parents to go on a road trip to French Lick for the day with about 8 couples from my dad's work. Unfortunately it rained off and on all day which was not very conducive for an enjoyable convertible ride; however, we had a great time. We had lunch at the French Lick hotel and then went to the winery. Garrett got to have a Grandma Kline day which we were excited she had that opportunity, thanks Grandma for the date! And as God would have it we were in town the same weekend my sorority sister, Sara had a baby. I was thrilled I had the opportunity to visit her in the hospital before returning to Indy. Welcome to the world Grant!

Summer Fun!

Here in the Kline household we have been enjoying our summer! We go on frequent bike rides, wagon rides to the park, trips to the yogart stand, and enjoy playing in our own backyard. A week ago I was looking for something fun to do (aka: trying to keep Garrett busy!) so I took Garrett to the Fishers splash park. He had a blast! Water shooting all directions and falling down in buckets, whats not to love! Also two sorority sisters of mine brought their kids over for playtime. Tara, Ashley and I enjoyed a light lunch outside while the kiddos played. Or I should say two of them played, the other four layed low! Three more weeks til school starts! Better get in some more fun, any ideas?

We hope everyone had a great holiday weekend! First off Garrett turned 15 months old. We went to Dr Kristen today and he weighs 25 lbs 12 oz and is 31 1/4" long. We were so excited that he grew 3 inches since April. Mommy has had a hard time fitting this boy with pants because he is so short. We also had a visit from the Kasprzyk's. Nick is Brandon's best friend from college, best man in our wedding. He and his wife, Jaime, and their 2 year old daughter Addison were in town for a wedding. We were able to dinner Friday night. Then catch a couple hours at the Indianapolis Zoo on Sunday. We had such a great time visiting and catching up after 2 years. Daddy also accomplished another project on the to-do list. He stained our screened-in-porch concrete slab. It really turned out really nice!

We have returned from the 2nd annual Graham family Michigan trip! We had a great time and have returned very relaxed...all you can ask for from a vacation! It was a very different experience from last year's trip when Garrett was only 9 weeks old. This year it was all about chasing a toddler and washing sand out of creases. The weather was cooler and rainier than last but we made the best of it, but we did get three sunny days out of six! We spent time in downtown Union Pier eating ice cream and shopping. When the weather was nice we were at the beach or in the pool. Something new this year, our cabin had private beach access and we were able build a fire and enjoy smores, yum!! We ended the week with dinner at local favorite The Stray Dog! Enjoy the many pics!

Last Sunday we had the privilege of attending a swim party with our couples bible study! Brandon and I have been doing a couple study of Romans every other Monday since January. The couples all attend our church East 91st street Christian here in Indy. We were invited to join the group by our family friends Jess and Josh Rabuck. We have enjoyed getting to know the other three couples. The party was at the Pelsue's home to celebrate Aaron's birthday. Aaron Pelsue leads the contemporary worship at our church and is a very talented singer and writer. We had a great time and it was a beautiful night. Garrett really enjoyed their pool. He is fearless and practically walked right into the pool...hence the life jacket. The hit of the party was Aaron and Emily's newly adopted daughter, Posey. She is gorgeous and we are all smitten with her beauty and the gift she has brought to their family! We leave tomorrow for our Michigan lake house trip with the Graham's. We will have plenty of pics when we return, I am sure!

Trip to the zoo!

One of the biggest perks of my new job is now I can take off for special days such as Garrett's first field trip to the zoo! Garrett's daycare, Kids Korner, took their annual trip to the zoo the day after Memorial day; and mommy volunteered to go! Miss Jaime, Miss Nikki, Jaime's husband Tim, me and another daddy Josh took 13 kids to the Indianapolis Zoo. We had a blast! The kids were so well behaved and had a great time. Jaime treated us to lunch, the dolphin show, and a train ride. Mommy was excited that she got to experience Garrett's first trip to the zoo. His favorite part was the "Pet the sharks" exhibit and the polar bear. After this experience I have a new appreciation for what Jaime and Nikki do everyday. I told her I was keep'n my day job!

I helped by driving two other kiddos, Grace and Reagan. Garrett loved having two girls in his car!

Here is an update on the playset! Well as you can see we have put a lot of sweat equity into this project but it looks brand new. We have to finish staining the new deck daddy built and find a tarp to put on top the tower and then we should be done!

Memorial (aka: Inauguration) weekend!

We had a great Memorial Day weekend, also known as the inaugural opening of the Van Zandt's new house, the inaugural opening of Garrett's baby pool and the inaugural event of the Callahan triplets visiting our house! It started with a trip to Columbus Ohio to visit Kris and Jen Van Zandt and their new home. We had a great time meeting their friends from Ohio and visiting with their families, who lets face it had a hand a raising Brandon and I. The house was beautiful, so now comes the pressure of a bambino...come on guys you have been married 6 years!! We then ventured home on Sunday to catch the end of the Indy 500 on the radio. Garrett got to play with his baby pool for the first time...he loved it!! Memorial day brought rain but also our first pitch in with the Sablehaus' and Callahan's since last June!! Which meant the Callahan triplets actually got to come to our house and play with Garrett. We had a good, but crazy time with six kids to run after. I definitely noticed adult conversation is more difficult these days!! Daddy has T minus two days till summer break! But as we all know this is going to be full of toddler toting and honey-do-lists. I enclosed pictures of his latest project. Our neighbors so graciously gave us their play set; however it is about 6-7 years old and needs some major TLC. Here are some "before" pics. Hopefully we will have some "after" pics for you soon!! I have always said I love shabby chic!

Well we have had a crazy week here in the Kline household! We are official parents of a toddler. No momentous birthday or milestone...just tantrums, saying the word "no", and constantly getting into everything even after mommy has said "no" 100 times. This is probably why he has learned the word "no". The hardest thing is that he has been very fussy for about two weeks and rightly so. Two weeks ago he started getting his 12 month molars, then last week he starting getting a rash. We thought nothing of the spots until I showed them to my good neighbor Sherri (no medical back ground, just mom of three and the source of constant motherly advice) and she so confidently said "that’s chicken pox". Excuse me?, what?, he cannot have chicken pox he was just vaccinated for chicken pox! Sure enough as quickly as she said it, they multiplied. A phone call to the pediatrician the next morning confirmed, yes, Garrett got the chicken pox from none other than the shot I gave him to prevent them. Needless to say daddy and Garrett had two bonding days home from school/daycare. But sadly we had horrible diarrhea and a low grade temp all through the weekend and into Monday. Now we are starting to act more like Garrett! He shocked our socks off tonight at dinner he looked up at me and said "thank you" and baby signed thank you. Thank you Miss Jaime for teaching him such neat things; he now baby signs "more" and "eat" as well! The Kline family is doing well. Daddy is counting down T-minus 4 weeks until schools out, unless the swine flu hits our county then they have to close school. Since I have already had the "swine flu" and he and Garret didn’t get it, I told him not to worry. Oh, yeah, so I think I had the swine flu. I was deathly ill for 6 days around Easter and I had every symptom and I caught from none other than a fellow PA that had just returned from, you guessed it, Mexico. Not to make light of a pandemic but just a coinsidence. I don’t know. Last weekend we spent everyday outside and we created a monster. Monday morning Garrett was banging on the porch door at 6:45 am crying to be outside. Then the rain hit and so did the 12 month molars, so that was a fun week! Well looks like we are getting some relief today from the four consecutive days of rain. Today we ran a few errands and went up to the Hamilton Town Center (that is our outdoor mall). We were shocked by the sun shine! We enclosed a few pictures of Garrett playing on their playground. We bought Garrett a pair of Croc-type shoes for our upcoming trip to Michigan and seeing that he will not walk in anything but Robees we surprised to see he liked them. We made it home in time to watch his first Kentucky Derby. He really cheered for the horses which was cute! Love when the under-dog wins! Then we had our first family movie night. I borrowed Wall-E from a gal at work. We sat down with blankies, ice cream and milk. Garrett went in and out of watching but I was surprised that he actually watched about 30 minutes before retiring to bed. We head home for Mother's Day and the twins' 9 birthday next weekend!

I would really like to ask for prayers for a five month old little boy named Stellan Mckinney. I was turned onto this website http://www.mycharmingkids.net by a sorority sister Michelle Dumas, thanks Michelle. This mother has really effected me today. She was told when she was at 20 weeks pregnant her baby had several cardiac arrythmias and disorders and that her child would surely die in the womb or at birth. She started asking for prayer on her blog and it has truely taught our country (and the world for that matter) the power of prayer. McKinney says her website is approaching seven million hits—which averages out to 20 to 30 hits every five seconds. Stellan was born in October perfectly healthy. However, in March his heart went back into superventricular tachycardia and will not revert out of this rhythm. This could pose to be fatal to this small baby. The family lives in Minnesota but the mom, known as "MckMama" and baby Stellan were flown to Boston Children's Hospital a week ago and he had a major surgery on Tuesday. The surgery was not as successful as they had hoped. And if you read today, unfortunately his heart is back in this irreversible rhythm. I have been truely touched reading this mother's blog today and reading about her faith in Jesus Christ. It is remarkable. Yet at the same time I have been crying (yes crying at work) for her and the helplessness she must feel. It is 3:39 in the afternoon and I cannot wait to get home and a kiss and hug all over Garrett, so grateful he is healthy and that I am not sitting in a NICU wondering what God has in store for me next. I hope you are truely touched by this womans faith and the following worldwide who are praying for her. Easter update!

Sorry it has been a week before getting up Easter photos but "the blogger" has been ill. I started getting sick the Friday before Easter and I was really bad by Saturday and had high fevers, chills, and severe body aches that lasted until Wednesday. I have been in bed for 5 days now and I am tired of it, yuck! Therefore as you probably guessed I was in bed for all of Easter weekend. Brandon and Garrett had a good time. Brandon brought Garrett home on Thursday to spend time with Grandma Kline. They had a great time and Garrett was nice and spoiled! I joined the crew on Friday but was not much fun. The weekend was spent mainly visiting with friends and family. Brandon got in some tee time with Noah and Lance so that was fun. Brandon and Garrett went to chruch with Lance and Keri on Easter Sunday. My mom hosted lunch for everyone in Lance's family, ours and Grnadma Kline on Sunday. It was full of good food, sweets and an Easter egg hunt. I drug myself off the couch for that, I couldnt miss my baby's first egg hunt! Garrett really was not that interested in the egg hunt and hates trying to walk on the uneven ground! He loved looking in his Easter basket and the plastic eggs though! Well as promised I wanted to share with you Garrett's first year pcitures and his 1st birthday memories! Garrett went to see Dr Kristen yeserday for his 12 month visit and he is 22 lbs 10 oz and 28.5 inches. In other words he is stocky monkey! Garrett had another big milestone this weekend. He had his first overnight at his great aunt Rebecca's while Brandon and I went to Erin Hillebrand's wedding, he did great! We are excited for Easter weekend and while post those festivties next week! Happy Easter to all!

Today we are celebrating Garrett's first birthday! It is so hard to be believe that one year has passed since God has blessed us with a son. Brandon and I truely feel that Garrett has enlightened our lives and our marriage. We do not think we could love anyone more! Although he is busy and keeps us on our toes, we have had the time of our life! Here are a few pictures from a year ago today at 4:59pm.

We already had a birthday party for Garrett last Saturday. We had so much fun spending time with family and good friends. Garrett was truely the entertainer when it came to sing "Happy Birthday" and eating cake. The video is around five minutes because he does eat 2 cupcakes and a plate then a big clap for the endI am glad the party went off without a hitch and a good time was had by all! 11 months and counting.....

Sorry it has been so long since you have heard from the Kline family! Mommy has been studying for her PA boards which I took yesterday (finger crossed!) Anyway Garrett is now 11 months old! He is EVERYWHERE! Putting his pacifer in the toilet, unwraveling toilet paper, getting into the kitty litter, and trying to eat dog food! But Brandon and I truely loving every minute! Since we have posted last a lot has happened. My sister had Landon Tyler Stephens (#4!) he is awesome and loved so much! We went home a few weeks ago and I have posted some pictures of Garrett and the new baby. He was very unsure of mommy holding anyother baby! Also since we last posted our good friends Tara and Brad had Cole Bradley Sabelhaus. Garrett is going to have lots of boys to play with, I love it! Cole unfortunately has been having some breathing troubles. He was born with pulmonary hypertension, basically his lungs are still acting like he is in the womb! Please pray for our friends and this precious child. This is a very serious disorder and they need our prayers! Here are some pictures from the past month since we are so behind!

Well Garrett is getting bigger and busier right before our eyes! This weekend we were forced to buy a new car since my '97 Camry went to heaven. We bought a '06 Honda Accord and with it had to come a new car seat for Garrett since he has grown out of his pumpkin seat. He is now 22 lbs! He was very excited about his big boy seat which came as a wonderful gift from Grandma Kline. Thanks Grandma! Garrett also took his first steps on January 17 (yes he is only 9 1/2 months old). He will walk about three steps between mom and dad and will hold onto one of our hands and walk beside us. Below is our video of our boy in action. He is so proud of himself!

We are cold! I am sure you are experiencing this as well. I had this great idea last night that I would bundle Garrett up and see what he thought about the elements! We as you can see, he didn't like the snow and the cold! Maybe there will be a snowman or two in his future but it was not happening on this night!

Happy New Year to all our friends and family! Hopefully 2009 will turn out better than this first picture of Garrett celebrating the new year. We had a great time at our neighboor's the Elfreichs. We enjoyed good food and drinks and toasted in the new year at a kid friendly 9:00pm! May 2009 bring you boutiful blessings and memories!

We wanted to post some new pictures of Garrett at Gymboree. Mommy signed us up for Gymboree classes on Mondays when she is off work. It has been a great way to spend time together and let Garrett work off some energy! Since Daddy was off the past 2 weeks from school he was able to attend and spend some time with Garrett.

Well Garrett's first Christmas was a hit! We went down to Evansville on Wednesday (a day later thanks to the ice storm!). We went to church on Christmas Eve with Meme and Pape. Christmas Day was spent with my cousins Noah, Claire and Anna Grace. Santa was very good to all of us! My favorite thing to open was the big box my wagon came in! Then, Brandon's family came into town and we had Christmas at Grandma Kline's house. Garrett was spoiled rotten with many wonderful gifts like a ball popper, music table, blocks, videos and more bath toys! We have been very blessed this year and are looking foward to a New Year !

We wanted to show everyone Garrett's favorite time of the day! We all have really come to cherrish bath time. Garrett takes a bath every night. No he is not a particularly dirty kid but he gets fussy around 6pm every night and this is how we keep the peace in this family. He is instantly all smiles when he hits the water and we love to watch him play. Brandon and I spend the time on the bathroom floor catching eachother up on our day! Yesterday Garrett got an early Christmas present from Grandpa Kline, a new tugboat for the tub...its a hit! Thanks Grandpa!

Garrett has been going around the house for about the past two weeks constantly saying dadadada. Last week, Garrett learned to say mamamama. Now, all he wants and says is momma. Go figure!

I wanted to put Amanda's new pictures of Garrett up. As usual, she did such a great job capturing the wonder of an eight month old. Our family has really enjoyed the season so far despite the routine of me starting a new job. I have really paused lately to enjoy the incredible joy and peace Christmas brings to us. Even though I believe there is so much hurt and struggle in our world today with the market and war, I cannot help but feel a sense that our Lord has it all wrapped up in His very large hand and is taking care of it all! He keeps whispering to me, "Ive got it". My hope is that all my friends and family feel the peace that comes with the Lord's love and grace! Merry Christmas!

It's been awhile!

We apologize it has been so long since we have last given you a Kilne family update. November was plagued with illness in our family. Garrett shared a lovely stomach bug with the whole family and then Garrett was diagnosed with a double ear infection. All along I was trying to train my replacement at work and Brandon was trying to stay afloat from having to miss school. Praise God we were healthy just in time for Turkey day! I took a week off between starting my new job and we enjoyed a great 5 days home in E'ville with family and friends! Garrett is definitely on the move. He is now pulling up and cruising on furniture. Busy...busy. It was fun to spend so much time with him last week. We also spent time with good friends and both sides of our family were in town. Garrett was able to meet Santa for the first time (thanks to Grandpa Jerry...shhhhh). He did great, no tears! Otherwise he was passed around and loved on for five days straight! Garrett is getting his two front teeth for Christmas! We are looking foward to the Christmas holiday and all the joy it brings. Hope you find this time as enjoyable as we do. I also put some picttures of my little sock monkey from Halloween since we fell behind! Love you all!

We are very excited( and very leary) to announce that Garrett is crawling! Friday night we were trying to show my mom, his "Meme", how he learned to sit up from all fours and suddenly he went for it! Garrett had a very big weekend, besides learning to crawl he was dedicated at church this morning. This is where our church prays over the children and pledges their dedication to supporting our family and showing our son who Jesus is. Grandma Kline and Meme were looking on with great pride! Earlier today ,after lunch, Garrett crawled from the living room to the kitchen while mom and dad discussed baby-proofing! Wish us luck!
